Thruster change-out Deepsea Hercules

Thruster change-out Deepsea Hercules

SubseaPartner was tasked with planning and executing a thruster change-out on the semi-submersible rig Hercules. The operation involved replacing thruster #2 (Rolls-Royce UUC 355) as part of the rig’s third renewal survey.

Key Activities:

  • Diving operations to disconnect and reconnect the thruster using strand jack shackles and fiber slings.
  • Cleaning and inspection of the thruster receptacle, including sealing face and liner.
  • Rescue drill conducted to validate emergency procedures, with diver recovery completed in under 10 minutes.
  • Barrier management and quadrant planning were implemented to ensure safe diving zones and hull penetration control.

Safety & Compliance: All diving was performed using NITROX and followed Norwegian diving treatment tables. The operation was supported by a detailed isolation matrix and final report confirming successful execution.
